IN THE SPOTLIGHT
UPDATE
2006 marked RTI's third successful year of bringing outstanding works of both classic and new works to life in the Greater Des Moines area. RTI has staged critically acclaimed productions including numerous Iowa and Mid-West premiers by Iowan and other American playwrights, as well as classic works by master playwrights Eugene O'Neil, George Bernard Shaw and Samuel Beckett.
In 2006, RTI more than quadrupled its budget infusing over 60 thousand dollars into the local economy!
NEXT STEP
RTI now enters the NEXT STEP in the planning and development process to create a professional theater company of Metropolitan Des Moines very own. As we enter this exciting and crucial stage of RTI's development, we will be taking a temporarily hiatus from presenting productions for the general public.
(RTI will be presenting cuttings of LOVE LETTERS for residents of senior living facilities throughout the Greater Des Moines area.)
KEEP CHECKING BACK
RTI will be unveiling our line-up of upcoming, top-quality fundraising events and our 2008 Season by the end of this summer.

Raves for RTI's Endgame
" Repertory Theater of Iowa explodes out of the gates with Samuel Beckett's "Endgame" delivering an intensity seldom seen on Central Iowa stages....rock solid director, cast and production team...irresistibly compelling...desolate, often humorous, theatrical ballet...Marvelous physicality and timing...captivating..If this is the caliber of productions RTI plans to share with Iowa theater patrons, then bring it on."
~ ArtScene Magazine, John Busbee
"Pitch perfect cast...The theater's production goes for the knock-out and succeeds...Leonardi, who literally shakes the stage with his performance, gives a face and voice to the human desire to cheat death, to outwit the universe, to pick up life's toys and play another game...Lynner's turn as Hamm channels the frustration and anger that flood a life if it is unable to breathe...Gouran and Skram bring temporary comfort with their humorous, playful and tender performances." CityView , Andrew Brink |
A TUNA CHRISTMAS
By Joe Sears, Jaston Williams and Ed Howard

|
Kick your holiday season off laughing with the residents of Tuna, Texas in the Repertory Theatre of Iowa's production of A Tuna Christmas.
"If you like someone, buy them roses... If you love someone, buy them tickets to A TUNA CHRISTMAS"
-- Austin American-Statesman
"A TUNA CHRISTMAS delivers a stockingful of laughs!"
-- Everett Evans, Houston Chronicle
"A Comic Masterpiece!"
-- KGO-AM/ABC, San Francisco
About the play and production
Joseph Leonardi and Rich Richards dash audiences through a blizzard of laughs as they play all 24 characters in this hilarious “night before Christmas” comedy set in the third smallest town in Texas. At the heart of the play is the warm tale of a fictitious town 24 hours before Christmas. The eccentric home spun residents spin out of control as they attempt to cope with several traumas--the competitive spirit of the annual Christmas yard-decorating contest; the fear of the illusive sabotaging Christmas phantom, and stress from the busy Smut Snatchers group which has taken upon itself to clean-up the script of the community theater's production of "A Christmas Carol." A guaranteed laugh riot for the whole family! |
